"...once our eyes are opened, we can't pretend we don't know what to do. God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls, knows that we know, and holds us responsible to act."
Proverbs 24:12

Letting Go of Traditions and Expectations

Feeling overwhelmed last week while making my to-do list, I realized Christmas will still come even if I'm not ready. As I sat there, I realized Christmas will come, but Jesus has already been born. I don't have to have everything perfect, I don't need to follow any rituals or repeat any traditions for Jesus to be born. He already was born- we are preparing to celebrate Him, not do things in such a way that He will be born if we get it all done. I let go of my list and expectations. I don't have a freezer full of fresh Christmas baking, I haven't gone to all the events and parties that tire me out, I didn't stress about the concerts, I have relaxed on my gifts, and I have found peace, I have gone for coffee with a friend, been creative while wrapping gifts, and am preparing my heart as I worship our King who I will celebrate this Christmas. What are you doing to celebrate the One who has already been born? What traditions are you willing to release to rest and enjoy the season? Choose joy, breath in, and celebrate Jesus birthday!

Hope

Warm hope in the glowing sun.
The first day of winter means daylight is going to last longer,
the world will one day thaw again.
